United Kingdom appoints a new Country Representative

HMRC has confirmed the appointment of Mr Peter Finnigan as the new UK Country Representative. He replaces Mr Peter Steed who resigned from HMRC in December 2014.

Peter Finnigan has extensive experience as a direct tax professional within HMRC. He spent ten years as an international tax operational specialist with particular knowledge of transfer pricing and as a UK Competent Authority dealing with international dispute resolution. He has wide experience of working in international fora both within the EU and OECD to address harmful tax practices and good governance in that area.

Peter is at present part of the UK co-ordination team on the current G20/OECD Base Erosion and Profit Shifting project. Previously he spent three years working as a National Expert Secondee to the EU Commission. He is experienced in assessing training needs, preparation of and delivery of training material both domestically and in developing countries. Peter will soon be taking on a new role leading a small team within HMRC focussed on capacity building for developing countries on BEPS issues, transfer pricing and exchange of information.

As the UK Representative, Peter will also serve as the Vice Chairman of CATA. On behalf of the Management Committee and the entire membership of CATA I extend a warm hand of welcome to Peter and look forward to the Association benefiting from his rich experience.
