CATA has joined the international and regional tax organizations in signing the Addis Ababa Tax Initiative. Launched on the side lines of the recently concluded UN Conference on Domestic Resource Mobilization in Ethiopia, and endorsed by over thirty countries and international organizations, the Initiative seeks among others to foster commitment by donor countries to double their technical cooperation in the area of tax by the year 2020. Partner countries commit to adopt coherent tax policies that will enable them to achieve sustainable development goals (SDGs). The initiative also seeks to ensure that all developing countries participate effectively in the Global Tax debates, especially on issues regarding fairness, transparency and effectiveness of the tax systems.

The launch was organized by the International Tax Compact (ITC) and was addressed by Finance Ministers from Ethiopia, Malawi, Kenya and Ghana. CATA was represented at the meeting by its President Mr George Blankson and the Executive Director.
