Pilot program on “Cooperative Compliance” taking root

A pilot program on Cooperative Compliance that started some two years ago is showing good progress as more countries express their interest in participating. The program, which is being led by the Global Tax Centre (GTPC) at WU Vienna University of Economics and Business, aims to foster a more cooperative engagement between tax authorities and taxpayers in a bid to boost voluntary compliance and minimize tax disputes. In furtherance of this objective, the GTPC in collaboration with CATA held a consultative workshop on 10th and 11th July in Accra Ghana that brought together diverse stakeholders to explore best options of realising the pilot program. Ghana Revenue Authority signalled their interest in participating and other CATA member countries are expected to follow suit.
