CATA signs Memorandum of Understanding with African Tax Administration Forum
Over the years the African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) has been a friend of CATA and the two organisations have worked together, albeit, on an ad-hoc basis. In order to forge a stronger and more strategic partnership, during the Closing Ceremony of the 42nd Annual Technical Conference in Abuja, CATA and ATAF signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The MoU seeks to provide more opportunities for capacity-building programmes for CATA members on the African continent.
The two partnering organisations say the MOU stands as a symbol of their long existing cooperation and will aim to strengthen their partnership, cooperation and interaction on efforts to advance digital adoption, stimulate innovation and provide support to their members though sound economic and technical tax system approaches. The partners aim to promote fair, effective and efficient tax systems and economic governance strategies to improve domestic resource mobilisation for their members.
CATA Executive Director stated that, “ The collaboration between CATA and ATAF will extend to the broader outreach of all members on common areas of interest, where we will leverage on partnership, technology, public policy support, technical assistance and joint innovation, we will cooperate to achieve sustainable economic development through the role of taxation.”
ATAF Executive Secretary , welcomed the cooperation and stated that, “ ATAF will share in expertise to promote innovative tax system solutions to improve revenue collection amongst the wider membership of our two organisations” he further stated that ATAF will continue to work closely with CATA towards revenue mobilisation strategies through taxation that will foster economic growth and social development in the interest and wellbeing of all citizens in our joint jurisdictions.”
