CATA_ICTD workshops on Digitalisation and Digital Transformation of Tax Administration held successfully
CATA Secretariat initiated a series of online workshops to learn more on Digitalisation and Digital Transformation of Tax Administration. Heartfelt appreciation to the Chair of the Capacity Building Subcommittee of CATA, Ms Deborah Lock of HMRC, the International Centre for Tax and Development (ICTD) who had all planned few months ago and agreed to deliver these workshops for CATA. The worshop-1 held on 15 April 2024 and workshop-2 concluded on 23 May 2024.
In this series of CATA_ICTD workshops, the International Centre for Tax and Development (ICTD) shared research findings and extract key policy lessons from ongoing research around digitalisation and digital transformation in African tax administrations.
The first virtual Workshop-1: Big Picture, Promises and Challenges from Digitalisation, included presentations and breakout groups, with attendees asked for views on experiences in their own organisations. The second Workshop-2: Problem-focused Digitalisation, the workshop delved deeper into the core challenges behind IT reforms, especially focusing on the political economy aspect of the topic. Highlighting the areas around, why do digitalisation reforms fall short of their potential? How to make digitalisation work? Problem-focused approach and holistic strategy: in-depth analysis of the broader preconditions and factors around a given IT intervention.
