Kenya: KRA appoints a new Commissioner General
Mr. Humphrey Mulongo Wattanga is the newly appointed Commissioner General for Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
Mr. Wattanga becomes KRA’s 7 th Commissioner General. He is expected to provide strategic leadership and institutionalize reforms towards customer centricity, digitization as well as domestic revenue mobilization in line with The Government of Kenya Transformation Agenda that requires critical dimension of supporting markets to develop and prosper.
Mr. Wattanga brings on board strategic leadership and a wealth of experience having served in various capacities. Until this appointment, he served as the Managing Director, MEGHRAJ Capital and was previously the Vice Chairman of the Commission on Revenue Allocation from the year 2017 to 2022. He previously also worked as a senior partner AFCORP Investment, Johannesburg, South Africa from 2004 to 2017.
KRA remains cognizant of the need to continue the robust engagement with CATA member states and is committed to supporting implementation of CATA commitments, recommendations and programmes. Mr. Wattanga is devoted to leading KRA to continue securing the benefits of international cooperation in tax and customs matters.
Mr. Wattanga holds a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor in Biochemical Science from Harvard University. He is a member of Kenya Institute of Bankers.
