Mauritius: Revenue Authority released preliminary results of its Taxpayer Satisfaction Survey
The Mauritius Revenue Authority released preliminary results of its Taxpayer Satisfaction Survey The conduct of an online Taxpayer Satisfaction Survey has now become an annual feature of the Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA). While undertaken annually, the questionnaire nevertheless, is redesigned year-in, year out to give an opportunity to taxpayers to rate their satisfaction on MRA’s new areas or initiatives. To capture a large number of respondents, the survey is made available to be completed alongside the submission of annual tax return by individual taxpayers.
For this year, the focus of the survey was on amongst others: On taxpayers’ preference of interacting with the MRA MRA Website effectiveness Tax morale and tax system Taxpayers’ trust on the tax administration
The preliminary findings were released to the press on 31 October 2023 and the results showed that:
98% of the taxpayers said that it has become easier to comply with their tax obligations with the MRA;
94% of the respondents admitted that their trust in the MRA has improved in the last year;
90% stated that the MRA is doing lots to detect persons evading taxes;
93% opined that the MRA administers the tax system fairly.
This on-line survey of the MRA also recorded more than 32,000 valuable comments to which due consideration are being given.
